Happy 2nd Birthday Conlee – Part 1

I can’t believe that my baby girl turned two today.  It literally has flown by.  She’s the most adorable, outspoken, stubborn, funny, songbird that I could have ever imagined.

We started with her favorite breakfast – pancakes.  Of course we put candles in it and Crawford showed her how to blow them out.

We then gave her her birthday present – a playhouse.  Needless to say – it was a huge hit (with both kids which was the intent!).

Babe and Pops got here around 10:00 (yes they left at like 5 am!).  Babe wasn’t going to miss Conlee’s birthday outing.  We took her to Glitterbox to get her first pedicure!

She knew immediately what to do.  She sat down and ripped off her shoes and socks.

Love, love, love this picture.

The lady was amazing and so steady handed.  She put white polka dots on Con’s toes.  Babe told her she had “ladybug” toes and that stuck.  I could literally eat them up.

Speaking of eating, Crawford was so smart and suggested Jason’s for lunch because there’s ice cream.  What better treat for your 2nd birthday!

We had such a great morning.  I swear this girl knows how to turn it on.  She had everyone everywhere just talking to her and she knew she was the center of attention.

Conlee and Cade made Pilgrim hats at school today.  They wouldn’t pose for a pic - they were both too worried about getting their coats to go home!

Happy Birthday Hudson

The kids were so excited to wake up from nap and head to Hudson’s 4th birthday party.  It was at Jump Zone and we’d never  been.  I’ll admit it was a bit intimidating for the kids (and the parents too!).  These bounce houses are HUGE and there are kids everywhere.

At first neither of my kids really wanted anything to do with it.  They tried the Sesame Street one and even that didn’t last long.

Can you tell how unhappy Conlee was?

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 023

By this time Crawford had loosened up and was going wild.  Bo took Conlee down one of the big slides and that’s all it took.  I had two maniacs on my hands!

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 024

These things were huge.  I had to just bite my tongue and let Crawford go with the boys.  I couldn’t help thinking what would happen if he fell backwards!

Crawford took a time out to introduce his sister to the Nemo slide.  We all know how she loves Nemo and slides – so it was a recipe of 1 hour non-stop sliding.

Now she’s happy!

This is Bo on kid duty.  He was guarding the entrance to the Nemo.  Love how it looks like he’s about to get chomped.

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 067

Yes, that’s my kid “helping” the birthday boy blow out his candles.  Sorry Hudson!

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 069

To say we were all worn out but super happy when we left is putting it mildly.  The party favors were Disney books – so we spent the rest of the day in a more “quiet” zone!

Winter PJs

Crawford got a special treat this afternoon – J-J took him to a Razorback basketball game.  Not sure if he was more excited about the game or the fact that there was popcorn involved!

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 015

Crawford didn’t get to have all of the fun.  Conlee found the clown wig and put on one heck of a show!

Crawford made it home in time to watch the horse race.  Gotta love that we are getting them into the ponies early!

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 019

I let the kids pick out the pj’s they wanted to wear to bed.  No, there was no snow in the forecast but  they both insisted on wearing their “snow” jammies.  Pre-kids I was the “snob” that said I wouldn’t sell out and go all commercial.  HA!  Now I’ve got a Dora and a Mickey.

Bo and I put the kids to bed and settled in to watch the game and enjoy a feast.  Bo smoked some pork loin and chicken.  I made oriental coleslaw and Paula Deen’s blue cheese potato salad (a must try!).  I love fall.

Penguin Ed’s

Tonight was just one of those nights that I had NOTHING prepared for dinner.  When I picked the kids up from school I called Bo and said we were going out for dinner.  I love our neighborhood because there are a few great kid-friendly restaurants.  We chose bar-b-que at Penguin Ed’s.  Where else can you get a kid’s meal for $4.00 that is super yummy?  They even have crayons and penguin coloring pages for the kids.

I guarantee they’ll need to use a bottle of Windex to get my kids fingerprints off the glass of the penguin case and the cookie case!

Little People

Remember those dueling pianos?  Here’s a pic of what I was serenaded with this morning.

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 001

I had to come up with a distraction – markers always do the trick.

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 003

After nap, I needed to get some work done on Conlee’s birthday party (going to be on the 14th).  So, we pulled out every Little People toy we had and built a city.  We had an airport, fire station,  farm, construction site, house and school.  They literally played for 2 hours straight.  A world record.

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 005 Conlee's 2nd Birthday 006

This made me laugh.  Apparently there was a fire at the school!

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 009

I love that Con is finally starting to play dolls and house!  Crawford’s still all boy.  He built a building out of blocks only to “blow” it down and build it back like 10 times.

Conlee's 2nd Birthday 011  Conlee's 2nd Birthday 013

Here’s a sneak peak at what I”m working on for the big day.  Despite the fact that she insists on a Diego party – we are having a butterfly party!  I’ll let her have a small Diego themed party on the day of her birthday!  Here are the invites.

p4

I’ve gotten very “crafty” and have made a gazillion trips to Hobby Lobby.  Everything for this party is DIY!  I even did the t-shirt!  So far – I’m loving the treat boxes.  I got a butterfly punch and am planning on putting them everywhere.  Diego who?  HA!

Oops!

I totally forgot that I had one of Conlee’s birthday presents “hidden” in the garage.  Obviously it wasn’t hidden very well, because when we got home from school tonight it was discovered.  So what if it’s two weeks early – at least she loves one of her presents!

Halloween 2010 161

Should have taken some video – this thing has got some volume on it.  Twinkle Twinkle at the top of her lungs.  Crawford eventually drug his keyboard out.  So, yes – I had dueling baby pianos tonight!
