Sunday and More Snow

It's hard to believe, but a little more snow fell last night. Just enough for the Garmon's to cancel church (I know it's bad, but it just looked too darn cold). But by 10:00 - we were climbing the walls. So, we bundled up and went to where else, Target? $40 unnecessary dollars later - we were home. Well, I shouldn't say unnecessary - Conlee needed her some shades! After nap, Sue-Sue and J-J came over to do what else - play in the snow. After yesterday, I think we were all a bit "over" it. But, once we got out in it - it was a lot of fun. The snow was perfect for snowman building and snowball fighting.
Crawford has gotten very brave on the sled. Yes, that's him sitting on his Dad's back. We even let him go down on his own (only 1/2 of the drive).
You can't see her because we bundled her up so tight - but that's Con getting in on the action. She'd say, "Mo, mo" (more, more) each time.
The thing you forget about sledding is that you actually get a workout. We'd slide a few houses down the street and have to walk back up (dragging kids and sleds).

Did I mention she loves her shades?
By the time we finished the snowman - the kids had abandoned us for a fire inside. Bo and I finished him. I kind of think he looks like a creepy guy you'd see at the races?
It's been fun, but I'm over it. Just found out that the kids' school is opening at 10 am and I am THRILLED. I feel like we've had a mini-vacation, but this is why I am scared of going snow skiing - 3 days and I HATE the snow. Now sand and sun - I could stay for weeks. See where my mind already is????

Saturday Sledding

When you wake up to 4" of snow on a Saturday morning - what else do you do, but make waffles? Bo and Crawford watched Mickey while Con and I slaved away :)
Crawford calls them "puffy" waffles.
I feel accomplished as a chef because Crawford told me he likes my waffles better than "freezer" waffles! Poor thing gets Eggo's 99% of the time.
The pic below cracked me up. The tracks are the paper man's, whom I met at 3:50 am this morning as I was walking back to bed after getting a quick drink. The "night" sky is literally lit up at night because of the street lights reflecting off of the snow. I almost had a heart attack, when I looked out our double doors to look at the "peaceful" snow - and there was a man standing there! Thank you Mr. Paper man for braving the conditions.
Birthday spoiler: Personalized fire badges.
We packed all of our gear and headed to the Rogers for some fun snow time.

Amanda and I spent most of the time inside working on firemen vests for the birthday party. Eventually the boys joined us as a warm house full of toys sounded better than frozen hands. Crawford LOVED Cole's new space suit.
After a yummy lunch and much progress on the vests, we headed to our house for nap time. After nap, it was the Rogers turn to come to our house (we have a few more hills)!
Taylor also came over and man was she a big help. Conlee just loves her.

This is what it looks like right before you get a shovel of snow dumped on your head!

Kyle and the boys hitting the hill.

I thought Bo was out of his mind when he told me to go with him. I hopped on his back and we went down head first. Wish I had a picture.
The boys wanted to ride the Gator, but we should have learned from Christmas - it doesn't work well on ice!
The girls came inside with babies (and for hot chocolate). How adorable is Cade?

Cole finally joined us for what else - snacks :)

This was our poor attempt at a snowman.
Today was one of those days that makes you truly thankful for the friendships God brings into your life. I had a blast - but I am totally exhausted. Thank goodness El Sol was opened - take out fajitas hit the spot!

Ice Storm

I've been preparing for 2 days to get ready for the ice storm. Well, it's Friday and it's finally here. But so far - it looks like we were really lucky - it's more of a snow storm than an ice storm!

Here is what 2 kids can do to a den in less than 10 minutes. Really? I turned my back and this is what I found.
It is so fun for me to watch them play together. Conlee is such a tom-boy. She drives the cars and says "rrrrrmmmmhhh" and she chugs around the house with a "choo-choo!"

Now, this is what happens when you let the toddler "color" with markers. It was literally behind her ears. Bo surprised me when he came home from work (the bank closed early). I honestly think he thinks I let the kids do this all of the time!

At around 3:00 - the ice was gone and the snow was coming down.
We couldn't let the chance pass us by. We had to get bundled up and get out in it.
Conlee loves her hood. She calls it a hat. And no need to comment, I know she looks like the uni-bomber.

Crawford going down our drive-way. I've never seen snow this thick!
Conlee was pretty upset when we made her come inside!
She changed her mind when she heard the words - snow ice cream!
Crawford asked if we could have more ice cream tomorrow. I told him from the looks of things we could have more for at least a week! Below is a pic of my snowman snow fall measurement figurine. It really wasn't that big of a help since the snow covered it. I dusted it off and it hit 4 1/2"!

Thank the LORD we didn't loose power today. Once that threat had passed - we actually had fun. Looking forward to a great day of sledding tomorrow.
