So it seems as if Crawford has been 5 all week – but this morning was the actual day! So of course I wanted it to be as special as possible. He specifically asked for a Star Wars theme! Bo and I set everything up last night so that he’d be surprised this morning.
He thought it was hilarious that he had to break down the 5 to get out of his room.
I told him he could have anything he wanted for breakfast. His reply, “But Mom we always have puffy waffles so the candles stand up for me to blow them out.” Guess he has been paying attention This was round 1 of candles for the day.
His big surprise rolled in around 10:30 – Babe & Pops!
We had his “party” at Chucky Cheese! This has become a tradition. So glad I took the day off work to just have fun with him today. It hit me that next year he’ll be in kindergarten and it won’t be so easy to just take a “skip” day!
Babe was a sport and played her heart out.
The second surprise of the day – Daddy and Sue-Sue came to party with us too!
I started the Chucky’s birthday day tradition when Crawford was 2!!! He jumped on this truck (they were at their old location) and he hated it. I mean tears rolling. Today was the first day since that he decided he could tackle it again. Looks like 5 is the magic age for riding the monster truck!
If you are playing along at home, this is the 2nd set of candles for the day.
After nap, it was time for the “real” party. I was scared he wouldn’t have any gifts to open. Yep, poor kid only had a coffee table full. He’d specifically requested that Pops cook him “Memphis” ribs. Proud Momma
And the gifts didn’t stop with our family. Our lovely neighbors called and had gifts for both kids (didn’t want Con to go without).
Speaking of lovely neighbors – they’ve become our go-to for hiding spots for gifts. They’ve had the bike Babe & Pops gave him at their house for a week. Crawford was so excited! It’s a Hot Wheels bike that makes a motorcycle sound when he turns the handle.
He put on his new helmet and asked if we could take the training wheels off right now. I told him we’d for sure do that soon.
He was so excited to get his DS! Who knew that he knows all about it (from the kids in his class)!
Time to chow down. I can’t get over how many ribs the kids each ate. So, so yummy.
And yep, this is the 3rd set of candles. Con asked earlier if I was making Crawf a cake. Um, that would be a no. After the karate cake – we let Harp’s do this one!
He loved trying to explain to J-J and Pops how the DS works.
Happy, happy birthday to my loving, caring, curious, thoughtful, artistic, competitive, all round great kid! Daddy & I love you to pieces. Hope you’ve had a great day (I mean week!).
