From the North?

Today was Crawford’s first official show-n-tell in his class.  He of course, chose his autographed Cubs baseball.  He HAD to wear the jersey and hat too!  His teacher said he did a great job in “presenting” to the class!

For dinner, we had fried chicken, fried okra and mashed taters.  Crawford looked at me and said, “Mom, I must be from the North like Santa because I DON’T like fried okra.”  Gonna have to get Pops to cook this kid some with the onions and tomatoes because it’s pure heaven!

Doing it Memphis Style

We had a great morning on the farm with a huge breakfast fixed by Pops and then Bo and I went for a quick run.  After an early nap – the entire crew loaded up to head across the bridge.  We for sure made the most of our time.  I <3 Memphis!!!!

First stop – the Children’s Museum.  It’s such an amazing facility.  The kids LOVED the Fed Ex plane.

I don’t know about you – but a “good” museum must have a simulated catfish “fishing” water exhibit!

And one of the things I miss most about NEA – Kroger.  The kids loved being the Mommy and Daddy and shopping.  They even got to “ring” up the groceries!

Rock climbing, pretend dentist, fire truck, police…you name it and you can experience it here.

Let’s hope this is the last time Con’s in the back of a cop car!

Con wanted to hula hoop – so I had to show her how!

Next stop – the Peabody to visit the ducks.

The kids had a front row seat.

No matter how many times I see it – I love it.  Such a Southern tradition that I’m happy to share with the kids.

The kids of course had Shirley Temples!  No telling how many of these I’ve had in this lobby.

Keith popped over to visit with the fam.  Love, love this guy!  One of my all time favs!  So glad we get to see him when we come to town.

Can you guess the next stop???  The Vous of course.  I get chills just when I walk down the stairs.  Not sure there’s another experience like it in life.  The sights.  The sounds.  The SMELLS.  Pure deliciousness.  My kids love it.  My job as a parent is done Smile

So thrilled to get to show my kids this side of my life.  So many great memories.  Having a great time creating new ones!

Uncle John’s

It feels like it’s been FOREVER since we’ve visited my folks.  We’ve had this trip planned for months – but earlier this week – Pops was admitted to the hospital – so the urgency to get there was even more.

The kids did great on the trip.  These write-on-wipe off Crayola lap desks are amazing!

The good news is when we got there – Pops was released from the hospital and got to come home with us.  We of course had to stop in at Uncle John’s for Crawford’s all time fav – fried ravioli.  Every time we go – he proclaims he’s in “his town.”  We did name him after Crawfordsville (where Bo and I were married).  So glad he gets to connect to this part of my heritage.

You could honestly offer me a 5 course meal in a “fancy” NYC restaurant and I’d choose this little whole in the wall any day!
