Garon comes to Play!

I hate to turn sad news into a fun post…but, Allison is sick as a dog – so I offered to keep Garon this morning so she could go to the doc.  I made them scrambled eggs with sausage for breakfast.

They played outside all morning!

Getting Comfy

Scoobs is starting to get comfy around here.  Today after work, Crawford taught (tried to teach) him to play catch!  I promise not to overload the blog with pics of Scoob – but come on?  Isn’t he adorable?

The only time we’ve heard him bark is when Bo has his “work” clothes on!

Bo and Crawford went to the club to hit some balls.  Scooby was fine with Bo dressed in “normal” clothes!

Oh how I love this pup!  Taking him to the vet tomorrow.  A bit scared he’ll tell me he’s like 15!

Scooby comes home!

After nap, I loaded the kids in the car and we headed to Joplin to get Scooby!  He got fixed earlier this morning, so he was a bit groggy.  The kids were so excited.  He honestly slept the entire way home!

The Rogers came over when we got home – to meet our new addition!

Joplin Humane Society

Today my the Operations team of S&SX – took joint VPDO days and headed to Joplin, MO to volunteer at the Humane Society!  So lucky to work at a place that encourages you to get involved in the community and volunteer!

Since we got back from vacation – I’ve been on the “hunt” for a new dog for our family.  Bo’s requirements:  rescue dog, potty trained, no shedding.  Quite the tall order – but I totally left this morning hoping to return with a dog.

We spent the day cleaning the facility and washing/walking the animals.  We had a great time – and everyone joined in on the hunt for the perfect dog.  Turns out the dog I’d picked on the website was totally crazy-hyper.  That was a no go.

By the afternoon, I was pretty sure that I was leaving empty handed.  So while J-Fro and I were washing dogs, it was my turn to pick the dog to wash.  At that moment, I looked down and saw him!  We already knew that our dog’s name would be Scooby (the kids insisted).  So I scooped the little guy up and gave him a bath.  He did amazing and was the perfect size.

I dried him off, put him on a leash and called for Amanda.  He passed all tests – lets you scratch his belly, walks on a leash!  This was THE dog.  I called Bo and filled out the paper work.

Bad news – he was in the stray area – and hadn’t been fixed yet.  So I did leave empty handed today.  But, I get to come back tomorrow and get him.  I did get a bit teary eyed as I had to put him back in his crate Sad smile

Here’s the team.  Don’t you love Chad’s bright green shirt; and that Brian looks good in pink Smile

We chose Joplin because of the devastating tornado that leveled the town a few months ago.  Before heading back to NWA – we drove around.  We all got quite and just couldn’t imagine that this many months later – it is still unbelievable!

When I got home, we packed up the kids and headed to Target to get the supplies we’ll need for Scooby.  Let’s just say Bo is not overly excited (he really is he’s just scared).  Dropping this much $ on a dog he’s never seen didn’t really do much for Scooby’s case.  But, I know when he sees him – he’ll love him!

The kids, now they more than make up for Bo’s lack of excitement!

Conlee really wants the dog bed to be in her room.

Scooby – sleep tight because your new family will be there tomorrow to get you!

Where are we on Monday night?

We’ve gotten into our routine.  Monday afternoon, I leave work at 5 on the dot.  Race across town and then race to the other side of town to be at soccer by 5:45.  I pack a picnic dinner at lunch – and we literally hang and play till dark.

Crawford has really gotten pretty darn good.  He scored 2 goals tonight.

Conlee, my social butterfly, is quite the hit with the younger girls!

While the Quakes are FAR from the best team (we call them the Bad News Bears) – we sure do have a great time!  And isn’t that what it’s all about – having fun?  Who cares if we win or loose? Smile  Let’s be honest – it drives us all crazy that we keep loosing but none of us let the kids know that!
