Christmas Morning

Christmas morning was all that I could have ever expected or ever wanted. A 3 year old and a 1 year old truly know how to make you "remember" the magic of Santa - a completely "white" Christmas doesn't hurt a bit.

It was completely dark when we walked into the living room and Crawford turned the tree on "like normal." His eyes lit up with amazement and he just kind of stared. Then Conlee made a move for her kitchen and it was "on." Crawford dove for the GeoTrax first. There is a phone with Con's kitchen - which of course was a hit.
Crawford would pick up one thing and say - "Wow, Santa brought me this!" He'd drop it and move on to the next thing.

The Gator proved to be the expected hit. He wanted to take it outside and ride it with Con. Did I mention the "white" Christmas with snow and ice on the ground?
Conlee was so fun with her discovery tent.
Santa "hid" the motorcycle - so that it took a minute to find. Note to self - Grandpa Santa forgot to put the stickers on :)

Conlee jumped on her 4-wheeler and the "game" was on.
Crawford had to go to the gas station.
Conlee wouldn't take her 4-wheeler to the gas station so he said he'd take it for her. Oh how quickly men learn!

To my surprise Conlee's favorite gift was their "shared" art easel. She "pretend" painted all morning.

The dish set was a hit too. Way too many pieces to keep up with. I think we are already short 2 knives and a spoon!
And then - the stockings came out. I didn't think it was going to end. The presents kept coming and coming.
Yes, it crossed my mind that Con could probably fit in her stocking and I almost tried it. Thank goodness for my restraint!

The best "kid" pic of the day - not so happy - but you take what you can get.
And then - Sue-Sue and J-J brought in their presents. It was literally overwhelming. Crawford would rip the paper off, drop it and move to the next. We might have created a monster.
Every year my MIL does something hilarious. Last year she gave Bo one of her "fake" presents. It was a wrapped book of pics of Italy. We joking "thought" she was giving us a trip to Italy. But, no - it was a "fake" present wrapped under the tree. This year she accidentally bought LED ribbon that lights up when plugged in. Of course, she realized it was LED AFTER she cut and used it to wrap the presents. No "shining" for this ribbon and my package had a plug on it - HA!
Bo is such a sport - after shoveling down a delicious brunch - he insisted we give the Gator a try. Poor Crawford - the wheels couldn't get any traction. The sledding made up for it!
Now aren't I glad that I bought Con a snowsuit? Risky purchase - totally worth the pay off.

In true Christmas form - they were not "up" for the group pic. What is it about wanting a pic of your 2 kids together????
Snow angels.

Our "homemade" sled.

Priceless.
A quick pack and throwing stuff in the car and we are headed to Memphis to see Pops in the hospital. I hope everyone had as good of a morning as we did. Looking forward to celebrating with my family (missed them horribly)!

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, we went to the 3:00 Christmas Eve service at church. Luckily, we were "smart" and put both kids in daycare. The service was beautiful, but long and there were lit candles at the end!
After church, J-J and Sue-Sue came over to eat Christmas Eve dinner. Of course, before we could eat - each kid had to open one present!
Crawford's keyboard was a huge hit. You record the music you play on an "ipod." We did a family version of "Jingle Bells" that will make you plug your ears!
Crawford got to sit at one head of the table...
...and Conlee was at the other end!
Much to our surprise - it started snowing (I was a skeptic and didn't believe a white Christmas was possible). This really added to the magic - Crawford just knew this meant Santa was on his way.
No that's not snow on Crawford's sweater - it's the Reindeer food that he was leaving for Reindeer's to eat!
After the Reindeer were taken care of - we had to decorate cookies for Santa!
Crawford watched the chimney like a hawk - he was convinced he'd catch a glimpse of Santa's boots (J-J may have helped with this idea!).
After the kids were tucked snugly in their beds (Con had been asleep for an 1 1/2 hours which is why she isn't in any of the above pic) - the "preparations" began. But, Bo and I are both "big" kids - so we spent an hour playing in the snow!
Much to our delight - Santa "finally" came and things were "set" for morning.

I can't wait to see the kids reaction in the morning!!!!!
