Wheels on the Bus

Conlee got a surprise belated birthday present today. Both kids freaked out when they saw there was a present to open. Of course, Crawford told me, "I'm just helping Con."Conlee literally took the tissue out and stuffed it back in for about 5 minutes.
Oh my - did we freak when we saw that there was a pink school bus inside. Crawford went to get his schoolbus and matter-of-factly told me, "Con can have my old one and I'll use the new one." Really? I don't think so!
It plays "The Wheels on the Bus" (which is a big fave in our house). I discovered that Conlee knows how to do the hand motions that go with the song. Adorable.

I just had to post this pic. From the front - Conlee still is very much "lacking" in the hair department. But, from the back - it's all curls. Bless her heart - this is exactly what I looked like at her age. She's going to spend years fighting the McCain curl!

Bye-Bye

Every morning, Crawford let's us know he's ready to get up by screaming at the top of his lungs, "The sun's up!" He yells this until we come and get him. Though, I can't complain - he stays in his bed and usually won't start this until about 7:00 am. Once he sees us, he changes to, "Ready to go eat now!" And repeats this until he is sitting at the table.

This has been our routine for well over a year. But today was different. After, "Sun's up." He changed to "Ready to watch Mickey." So we bypassed breakfast and he snuggled up with Bo for some Mickey time. Well, when it was time for Bo to get up - Crawford was still sacked out. I found him like this well after Bo had left for work. I finally had to wake him up at 8:00 because we had things to do!

Conlee found a "change purse" that I'd gotten as a gift. The minute she saw it - it became hers. She wears it everywhere. She puts it around her neck and says "bye-bye."

Well tonight, she also discovered Crawford's ride-on tractor. She loves the thing.
I was scared Crawford would be mad (he's pretty protective of the tractor) but he did great. He told me that Conkey could ride while he played ambulance.

Fireman Party Prep

Amanda and I are in full swing getting things ready for Cole and Crawford's 3rd birthday party. We got smart this year and decided a joint party was the way to go. Let's face it - almost the exact people would be invited to both parties - so we might as well do one big bash.

The boys are really into firemen this year - so that's our theme. I'm not going to give too much away - but this party is going to be all about imaginative play. I am so excited - I think they are going to have a blast.

As one sneak peek - we are doing a little something that shows the boys in their costumes. Here are the pics we are using.

Check back on February 6th for photos from the party! I still have a hard time believing they are going to be 3.

No more glue

Today, Sue-Sue kept Conlee since she still isn't feeling great. She somehow managed to pick the "liquid stitches" off of her forehead. Yes, she literally wore her jammies all day - but man - she looks so much better without the purple bulls eye! She seems to be feeling much better - so fingers crossed that we are on the mend.

Sick Baby

I swear it feels like I've gotten a call from the kid's school literally every day for the past few weeks (it really hasn't been that dramatic - but man, they just can't catch a break). Conlee woke up with the same stuffy nose and cough - but she didn't have a fever so I took her to school. By 9:30, I got the call that she had fever and was really wheezing. Bo picked her up and took her to the doctor. Of course, it's just a virus (probably RSV) and nothing we can do for her.

Bo and Sue-Sue took turns watching her on Monday. Bless her heart - I bet she didn't move from this position all day.

A "Happy" for Con and Crawford

Since I can remember my mom has always given what she refers to as "happy's." They are small gifts that you never expected for no reason what-so-ever. They truly do make you happy!

Well, we passed on church this morning because both kids are terribly congested and just act like they don't feel great. I had forgotten to get the mail yesterday - so it was quite the treat when we found that Babe had sent Crawford and Conlee a "happy." An explosion marker set for Crawford and a mini-marker set for Con. They were so excited - you would have thought it was $100 bucks.
I so need to get better about remembering to give happy's. Honestly - some of my favorite memories from the past involve happy's from my mom. Thanks Babe for bringing the tradition to my kids! Miss you!!!!

Party Time!

It always seems that we'll go weeks with nothing to do. Then, all of a sudden - it all hits at once. Today we had a 1st birthday party and a wedding shower. Quite the range in activities :)

We started by helping Lawson celebrate his 1st birthday. It was monkey themed and so fun. The kids got to stuff a monkey like build-a-bear. They loved it.

Conlee's favorite part was getting to be "big" and sit with Crawford and Cole.
Conlee's monkey is "Baby" (thanks to Crawford) and Crawford's monkey is "Strike."
We raced home to change clothes and get stuff ready for the sitter. This was the first time that we've left them both with a non-family member for night-time sitting. Ms. Amber from their school got the "honor" of keeping them from 6-10. She said they did great. Really not a bad gig when they are both asleep by 7:45.

We helped host a honey-do shower for Matt & Court. Denny and Candice were nice enough to have it at their house. We had so much food - which is never a bad thing. It was a great turn-out and Matt & Court got tons of stuff they needed for their new house! I still can't believe the wedding is almost here. Note to self: time to get in shape!

The hosts (minus a few).
Brothers & Sisters.

Day 3

For some reason, day 3 always looks the worst when it comes to any type of cut/bruise.Crawford wanted his picture taken too.
