Greasy Creek - Part II

Boys will be boys - so I guess we have to let them! Kyle and Cole invited Bo and Crawford camping again. Since Pops was in town, he made the trip with them. From the tall tales I've heard and Crawford's constant, "I rode Ranger at Geasy Ceek," I believe a good time was had by all.
I want hot dogs and smore's for dinner too. I have to insists the girls join at least for an afternoon/early evening visit.
I love this picture!
I am so glad Pops was there to take the pic below. The guys are in "Cole's" deer stand.
Did I say deer stand? I think they must have meant tree house. Can you get over the size of this thing. Cole's grandad built it for him! Bo said the boys loved it (Pops included). They were surrounded by deer.
The guys are no longer rookies. This trip, they decided to forgo a "normal" bed time and let the boys play as late as they wanted!
Apparently there was lots of football and baseball, but to give the guys some "down time," we did pack the dvd player and movies!
Thanks so much to Kyle and Cole for another great adventure! Pops swears it's one of the best trips he's ever been on.

While the Boys are Away...

...the girls will shop! The guys have gone camping - so of course, the girls went shopping. This is Con laid back in the shopping cart in Target. Life is good!

Conlee has a Cold

Life just wouldn't be as interesting if your kids didn't get sick. We are just at the beginning of the "sick" season and as soon as Crawford got well - Conlee got sick.

Thank goodness for Babe and Pops because they were able to stay with her while Bo and I went to work. Bo did break away long enough to take her to the doctor. Good news is I got that weight check I've been wanting. She tipped the scales at 16 pounds on the nose. What a little bit. Bad news, of course - no medicine and nothing to do but wait.

When she's sick she just wants to be held and to sleep. She was so tired - she fell asleep sitting straight up in bed!!!!
Bless her heart. Fingers crossed and prayers being said that she feels better soon.

Chief Crawford

Halloween sneak peak - Part II.Crawford's Halloween costume arrived today and to put it mildly - he LOVES it. He has the full gear - coat (personalized), overalls, boots and 2 hats (one makes the siren sounds). I think we'll get a lot of use out of this costume.
Babe and Pops got here - so of course - the costume wasn't the only surprise. Conlee (and Crawford) got a ball popper. Again, the one thing about them being so close together - they really do enjoy the same toys. So, with 1 present - they both get excited - more bang for you buck. Wonder how much longer this will last????

The night couldn't be all fun and games - there HAD to be tears too :) Crawford tripped over his new boots and went head first into the corner of the coffee table. It looked so much worse than the picture indicates.

Happy Grandparent's Day from Conlee Too!

We forgot to pick up Con's present for her Grandparent's - so it was a day late. But, still as heartfelt. Babe and Pops are headed this way on Wednesday and we can't wait.
FYI on Crawford update - he stayed home from school today (101.7 fever). But, we went to the doc and no flu. So - lots of hugs and LOTS of television are what I am prescribing!

Happy Grandparent's Day

We love you Babe, Pops, Sue-Sue, J-J and Lu-Lu!!!

Crawford made a special treat for his grandparents at school. A coffee pot with sugar and creamer.

I will say - it hasn't been a "fun" day for us. Last night Crawford got sick. His fever got as high as 101.7. To make things worse - Con decided she didn't feel good either (no fever - gotta be a tooth). She got up at 11:00 and didn't go down until 5:00 am. Honestly, we haven't been through anything like this since she was 6 weeks and had RSV.

So, we pretty much had both kids up all night long. To make it really fun, while Crawford was in bed with me at 3:30 am - he got sick (Bo was on the couch with Con). He told me earlier in the night that he had to throw-up, but I didn't think he really knew what he was talking about. Apparently, he does.

Today, Con feels a LOT better (she's just been eating a ton - so maybe she was hungry last night?). Crawford still has fever (100.2 when we put him to bed), but we keep it in check with changing Motrin and Tylenol. He's pretty much slept for 6 hours today. Poor guy - I HATE it when they don't feel good.

While her brother is "away"Conlee will play. She "found" his tool bench and figured out how to make the saw work. She was in heaven.

Conlee is 10 months old!

I say this every month - but I really can not believe that 10 months ago today I gave birth to this tiny bundle of joy! She makes all of our lives so much better.
So, what's she like/what's she up to?
  • She has to be in the center of everything - if you leave the room - she's on your heels following you!
  • She's not a big hugger, but she has moments where she smiles big and puts her head on your shoulder - the best.
  • She is as tiny as tiny gets. I've got to get to Amanda's to weigh her, but 2 weeks ago at her last check - she was only 15.6!
  • She LOVES food. We are still offering 5 - 6oz bottles of the "liquid gold" but she gets "real food" with breakfast, lunch and dinner. And let me tell you - there is NOTHING this girl won't eat. Loves her veggies and fruits, but is also a big fan of pasta and bread. Veggie omelets with cheese are a big fave. I can honestly say there is nothing that she's refused and just this weekend I started with meets. She ate a half of a chicken salad sandwich yesterday. So look out - I am sure there's a growth spurt coming.
  • She is definitely "cruising for a bruising." She will hold on to anything and try to walk. Literally - she'll grab the back of my pants and go step-by-step with me. She's stood for a few seconds by herself - but she gets freaked out and sits down.
  • She might have a pink room, big bows and wear dresses - so far - she wants everything that is her brothers. She'll take a train or car over a baby doll any day.
  • Her music table and her "cheap" stack rings are her favorite toys.
  • She is a great sleeper. Recently - she's been wanting to go down really early. She's been sleeping from 6:45 - 6:45. It's amazing.
  • At home, she's a great napper - 1 1/2 in the am and 1 1/2 in the pm. But, at school - there are days when she only gets 30 minutes total. I think this has a lot to do with the first line item.
  • I think she's going to be our "performer." Give her a piano, guitar, music table, maraca, Crawford's fridge toys - she loves anything that makes music. She bounces and has recently started to clap her hands.
  • She "talks" a little. We are working on sign language - but right now, she clearly says Momma and Dadda. I'll go ahead and warn you all that she's loud like her Momma. She babbles to herself while she's playing all of the time.
  • She is great with her sippy. I haven't given her formula out of it, and she doesn't lift a finger to help feed herself the bottle. But, give her a sippy with diluted juice and she goes to town.
  • She is as easy going as it gets. We NEVER hear her cry and she will go to anyone. Her "day sheet" from school always says "Conlee had so much fun and made us laugh all day. She's such a joy!" They may be telling me what I want to hear - but her demeanor is the exact same at home.

Edamame

It's just like Crawford - who claims not to like any vegetable - to fall in love with edamame! He helped Bo and I eat our appetizer from Shogun. As expected, the vegetable fried rice was a big hit too.

Bed Rail

I was talking to a friend the other day who was having trouble finding a bed rail for her daughter's toddler bed. I can't believe that somehow I've never posted about how I (well my mom) made Crawford a bed rail for his toddler bed.

We took his old bumper, cut it and stuffed it to make one long pillow. We added long ribbons to the end and tada - a home aid bed rail. It keeps is "friends" from falling off and I really think it keeps him put too! We've never had him get out of bed on his own.Oh yeah - it keeps his little sister out too.
When we "make" his bed in the morning it becomes a cute pillow on the back of the bed.

Twinkle, Twinkle

While I was changing Conlee's diaper this morning, Crawford decided to breakout in song. He sang all of "Twinkle, Twinkle" with no help from me. So, I immediately go grab the camera and try to document this on film. As expected - he wasn't as "willing" to perform! But, what I got is pretty hilarious.

A few things that really crack me up:

  1. It was "snack" time - so after he'd sing he'd yell, "I want chocolate!" Now, don't for one minute think this is what he gets for his morning snack! He might ask for chocolate, but a Diego yogurt was what he got.
  2. Conlee is such a "ham" that she literally got mad that she wasn't on camera. She was climbing all over me trying to get my attention! As soon as I put the camera down and turned to her - she started laughing out loud.
  3. Crawford has a stopped up nose, so he sounds even funnier than normal :-)
  4. He also apparently doesn't perform well under pressure. He forgot half of the words. I promise he was crystal clear and perfect without the camera!
