Carving Jack-O-Lanterns

This morning I decided to be considerably brave – the kids and I carved Jack-O-Lanterns.  I was secretly hoping that they’d want to do the extreme carvings (a skeleton or a haunted house).  But, I was quickly informed that a Jack-O-Lantern has triangle eyes and a nose and crooked teeth.  Man how thankful I am that we went old school – super easy!

Love this one.

Babe and Pops arrived just as we finished (yes they made it from Eastern Arkansas to NWA by 10:30 A.M.!).

Goodness knows that Babe & Pops wouldn’t arrive empty handed.  A ballerina outfit for Con (every piece lights up when you dance!).  Crawford got a beloved Transformer (still wondering how he knows what all of this stuff is).

It’s the Friday before Halloween and Babe & Pops are here – let the celebrations begin!

Show and Tell Day

This was a “new” day for us – show and tell day.  After much debate – Crawford decided on the combine; Conlee on baby.

I’ll have to admit it now – I had a say in baby winning over Diego.  I was terrified that we’d loose Diego and I just wasn’t willing to risk it.  Good thing because baby was a hit.  Conlee brushed all of her classmates hair with the comb and everyone took turns feeding baby the bottle.  Apparently the combine went over well to – Crawford took the entire class through the process of cutting beans!  Pops is oh so proud.

Note:  Halloween shirts weren’t required – but man aren’t they cute?

While cleaning out Conlee’s closet I found last year’s Halloween costumes.  The good thing about having “tiny” kids – they get a good “wear” out of their Halloween costumes.  Bo asked why they weren’t just wearing these again this year.  As if!

Pictures, Dentist, Lunch and a Boo

The subject of this post, pretty much tells you that we were B.U.S.Y today!

Today’s Spirit Week theme was picture day!  Well, the kids don’t got to school today, but Lord knows I wasn’t missing the chance to get their pic professionally snapped.  Well, I might have goofed, because I didn’t anticipate 3 different “themed” backgrounds.  Am sure they will look cute with the fireplace and fake holly in the “Christmas” shots – HA!  Oh well, cheesy – yes – but I know I got one very good fall one (fake leaves and all!).  When they are grown-up and famous, this cheesy pic will have to surface!

024

We were done there by 8:30 – so we hit Office Depot and Hobby Lobby.  All before 9:30.  10:00 – landed Crawford and I at the dentist.  This was our first trip to the new location – and I didn’t think it could be better than their previous one.  Man was I wrong.  It is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Good news – no cavities (the doc even noted that he could tell what a great flosser Crawford is!).  So glad that he loves the dentist.  I can’t say that I do and with Conlee’s first appointment scheduled for next month – am guessing she might not be as jovial about it?

When I picked Con up from Sue-Sue’s she mentioned she was having soup for lunch.  Somewhere in the conversation – I mentioned Panera tomato soup.  So, while driving home to fix the kids lunch – Crawford said he really, really, really wanted Panera.  So, I decided to brave it and took my two kids on a lunch date to Panera (it was only 11:15 – so I was banking on missing the crowd).

I’m so glad I bit the bullet and did it.  The kids loved it.  We were there for like 45 minutes.  They were on their best behavior and they ate so much!   I had at least 3 people comment on how great they were.  Nothing is better than getting a compliment on your kids manners!

They each had grilled cheese and I had tomato soup.  It was the perfect “share” lunch.

Conlee LOVED the soup (she likes all red foods).  Love the one of her feeding Crawford.  I had to put it out of my mind that I have bronchitis and yes – we were eating out of the same bowl and the kids were sharing a spoon.

After nap (and a bit of work for me) we ran a few more errands.  When we got home – we found out we’d been Boo’d.  The kids were so excited.

Love the vampire teeth!

Crawford is so excited to Boo his neighbor’s.  So if you live nearby – get ready – I’ve got 2 Boos to hand out!

Color Day

 013

Crawford requested red, blue and orange.  Thankfully when I pointed out there was no orange on the Cubs hat, he settled for just red and blue.

Conlee on the other hand was simple – purple, purple, purple!

Pajama Karate

If you can have a favorite thing about daycare – today kicked off mine - Spirit Week.  Every daycare we’ve been to does Spirit Week the week of Razorback Homecoming.

Today was pajama day.

Have I mentioned that besides Diego and shoes – Conlee is still obsessed with jackets?  Well, Bo made the mistake of telling the kids to put their coats on BEFORE I had the chance to take the pic of them decked out in their pj’s.  Here’s Con’s before and after.  I swear she can go from hot-to-cold faster than anyone I’ve ever seen.  I promise these pictures were taken within 20 seconds of each other.  Wonder where she gets this from???? :)

Disclaimer:  of course I tried to convince them both to wear their adorable Halloween jammies – but they weren’t having it.  Dora and T-Rex won by a landslide.  As a parent – you learn to pick your battles!

Today was a VERY special day at daycare, Crawford’s class hosted a karate demonstration.  It was hilarious to watch them do karate in their jammies!  They were literally bouncing off the walls with excitement.

Trenton, Cole and Crawford.  These boys have been together since they started school!

043

Crawford’s front roll.

044

Double punch and a front kick.

045

The best part – treat time!

046

Bo couldn’t make it – but J-J and Sue-Sue came to represent.  Notice Crawford is enjoying his “treat” in the picture!

047

Group pic – love it!  I will say that I have been paying for this for months and had no idea what it was all about.  It’s worth every penny – they love it (and the “karate guy” (as Cole calls him) actually teaches the kids manners!).

050

Lisa – this one’s for you.  Trenton striking a pose.

A big thanks to Amanda for “suggesting” this to the school.  It was great.

Fall Clean Up

I couldn’t start this post without mentioning just how bad I feel right now!  It all started on our “date night” last night – which turned into a rain soaked mess.  Then this morning when I was supposed to be sleeping in – in a quiet house – I’ve been coughing my left lung up.  Bo is wonderful and got the kids outside to help clean up the leaves.

Did I mention the rain soaked mess?  The kids were jazzed to wear their rain boots.  Double the fun – dad forgot to put the top on the sand table – so it officially became a sand/water table.

001 002  004

If I would have been on my game – the kids would have been in matching “fall” color outfits as they frolicked in the leaves.  But, I was way off – and I love that while Bo didn’t “match” them – he did remember to break out the camera and snap some pics for the blog.

005   009   012  015  017 018 019

Love how Conlee is ALWAYS just  steps behind him.  J-J told Crawford the other day that he had his work cut out for him – raising his sister and all.  Meaning – she’s going to do whatever he does!

022 023

After a round of meds, the kids were dying for some Mommy attention.  So, we made ghost feet.  J-J stopped by and just couldn’t get over the fact that we were painting our feet.  After hearing the rounds of giggles – he just shook his head and smiled.  So what if it’s a bit of a mess – this is what I live for!

026 027

They even convinced me to do my foot.  It tickled so much!

028 029 030

We’ll put fingerprint “eyes” on them later this week.

031

Bo called us outside to check out the sky.  It was incredible.

032 033 034

And that’s when Crawford spotted what the Moore’s had been up to on Sunday – they put their Halloween decorations up.  The spooky eyes in the bushes fascinated Crawford, but not Con.  To say she’s not a fan is putting it mildly.  She’s such a scaredy-cat :)
