Harvest Time

This is the absolute BEST time of year to head to Eastern Arkansas - the farmers are all busy bringing in the crops. So, Bo took Friday off of work and we packed up the crew and headed to Twist.

Cheesy, but adorable - they wore their Batman shirts.
This was our first trip since Crawford's been potty trained, so I was a little worried. Allison gave us a piddle pad for the car seat - so I was somewhat prepared for accidents. But, leave it to a 2 1/2 year old to surprise you - not one accident. He even went #2 at a gas station in McCroy! This was a HUGE step. I was so glad that Bo and I were "prepared" for the unexpected. We'd gone to Toys-R-Us on Thursday at lunch and picked up Mater. We'd promised him that he would get one if he'd start using the potty for poop. We laughed because NEVER in a gazillion years would I have thought that he'd decide to do it while on the road. He went all weekend and we were accident free!!!! I am so proud of him.

Of course, Babe & Pops had some surprises for them when we got there. A combine and John Deere hat for Crawford.
Some blinged out silver shoes for Conlee.
After a quick nap - Crawford insisted we head to the farm.
This is another sssshhh don't tell moment - but when we are at the farm - the kids get to ride sans car seats. We all load into Dad's truck - because it's the only way we'd get over the mud and ruts on the gravel roads.Luck would have it that when we got to the shop, a tractor had blown a tire and they were having to load up 2 new ones. These things weigh about 1500 pounds a piece, so there was a forklift, lots of chains and lots of hard work. Crawford was in awe.
Don't we look like we are "trying" to be country - but we look so city!
We then made the "trip into town" and went to the pharmacy and the library. The pic below cracks me up. Crawford pretty much thinks that Babe is a rock star because she's the librarian and has access to so many books.
Pops treated us to fried fish, hushpuppies and french fries for dinner. Babe followed up with a pecan pie for dessert. Let the calorie clock begin ticking. We have 2 more days of this!
