Life on the farm is just “different” – and nice in so many ways. After we got back from Jonesboro – we HAD to hit the farm so Crawford could check out the tractors.
YES – we had our Brittney Spears moments. The kids “drove” all over the dirt roads. And let me tell you, they loved every minute of it.
In the pic below Conlee is doing her “trick.” When you ask her to do this –she rolls her eyes to the sky and makes a pucker face. Adorable and hilarious.
How funny that Babe, Conlee and I all wore white jeans today (In the pic below – Con’s were in the wash to get “clean” again for dinner. She’s in her white shorts.).
After we “freshened up” we headed in to “town” to Crawfordsville to eat at Uncle John’s. Hands down it’s my favorite restaurant in the WORLD. No “thrills” but authentic Italian food that will knock your socks off. I even ran into my Aunt Margie – which tells you so much about the place. You literally know over 1/2 of the people in there!
Crawford loves to call it “My Town” and he’s right! Crawford was named after Crawfordsville because that’s the town where Bo and I were married! Love that I get to share Eastern Arkansas with the kids.
So, the pic below is “classic” McCain. As you can see, Conlee took off walking in the middle of the road. Not ideal. So the expression you see on Pops’ face is what the McCain’s refer to as “getting teeth.” It’s basically when you are in so much trouble that your parents yell so hard that their teeth almost come out of their heads. So yes, she’s 18 months old and officially “gets teeth” quite a bit!
We got home and the sun was still up – so Pops took the kids on the 4-wheelers. So many of you have asked about my Dad. It’s a miracle that he’s doing so well. He still has complications and regularly is in the hospital or at the doctor, but in the grand scheme – the cancer is gone and he’s doing great. The docs think the cancer will come back, but they’ve been able to buy him several years! The one big difference is he’s lost 60 pounds!
Here’s a pic of Pops with Crawford tonight.
And here he is in August of 2009 – almost 1 year later and WOW – what a difference. His “belly” will always be big bless his heart, it’s all of the scar tissue and packing from the gazillion times he’s been cut open. But, just look at that face – amazing.
I thank God every minute that he’s with us and is able to bring so much joy to my kids! Conlee even jumped on and went for a ride.
The one thing about Babe is she keeps an amazing yard. Crawford really liked checking out the roses.
Tomorrow is a big day – hitting the Memphis zoo. So excited!
